College students come from all walks of life. Many of us
live “secret lives” outside of school. The secret lives of college students
aren't really secret. They are merely unknown lives because we have yet to get
to know each other. We spend so much of our time focusing on school, work, and life’s
struggles that we don't take the time to know each other. We miss out on the
real joy of true friendships and real life talks. We instant message, text,
post to Facebook, and use technology to communicate. However, is that really communicating?
Sure, to a point, but can you see a facial expression in a text? So, do you
really know your best friend? Do you take the time to sit down and talk, feel
the emotions behind their words or read their body language? When we miss out
on these parts of communicating it creates these “secret lives” and misunderstandings.
We need to have that one on one connection time to eliminate our secret lives.
There is so much you can learn about someone from the way they hold themselves
and their body language. If we allow ourselves to take the time, we can learn
about our fellow classmates “secret lives” and connect on a higher level. There’s no reason that we should hide any part
of who we are, intentional or not.
Here’s some info on body language.
