The University of the Real World

College life, the purest form of what your life is destined to be upon graduation. High School was a breeze to some, even a joke to a select few. Attending college opened my eyes to an entirely new world of stress, producing or you fail, and desperation. After serving in the military for 20 years, I thought I was prepared for just about anything. Then, I enrolled in college and was caught totally unprepared for all that would be required of me in order to successfully navigate this foreign landscape to my end goal of earning my bachelor's degree. The scheduling
We have grown to the very mold that ate away our parents, for it's easier for an outsourced extremity to devour our hopes than let our own decisions base our destiny. The inclination of educational diplomacy, fuels an outrageous fire we too often over look and distaste for higher learning. As the budget of our brains increase dramatically, our banks holdfast the very substance feeding am endless pit of important imagery we seek so desperately. The concealed truths we haven't been exposed to is what keeping us in this loophole of misguidance and deliberate repose. The self-deprecating excuses we entertain cloud the truth of expanding our intelligence. The secret of being a college student isn't to impose wild nights or hours of seemingly hopeless studying. But with the arrival of debt and painstaking work we didn't envision on the adventure of our entailed career paths.
The Secret Lives of Collage Students.

By Roxanna Gonzalez-Vazquez and Abigail Stewart

Collage can sometimes be overwhelming. The easiest task like creating this little blog can be difficult because expressing your thoughts is so awkward. Knowing our class will read this is what makes this so hard, but in the end it doesn't matter. Because as long as we complete this assignment that's what counts. We decided to write the blog together to make it easier on the both of us, but it was still just as difficult. Our mind went completely blank and we were just staring at each other for a few minutes and could not think of anything to put on this blog so here it goes.

Our first day coming to this class we didn’t know each other, but now we are close friends. We do a lot of our studying together, which is nice cause we can encourage one another. Even though we are very different in our personal lives, we can relate to each other here at school. We get pretty silly as we study which helps relieve the stress of our activities. It is amazing how quickly we connected and how fast our friendship has grown. We look forward to what the rest of this school year and beyond will hold in-store for us.

Getting Through College/ Trisha

Meal Prep
"If you fail to plan you are planning to fail" Benjamin Franklin. I'm always in a rush for time with classes and work. I use Sunday mornings for food preparation. When I'm on the go having something pre-made is convenient. I'm never skipping a meal. I fill fueled through the entire day. I find myself always going straight from class to work, thinking about eating out makes me think of eating junk. Meal prepping is my way of making sure my body and brain are fueled with the appropriate nutrition and can preform at peak performance.

So parents of kids have been telling them that weed is bad. Then the kid gets to college and finds out pot might just be okay. Of course the kid is going to try it out. Luckily marijuana has never killed someone by using it, in and of itself. I wouldn’t be surprised to find out that a big bale of cannibis might have fallen on someone and killed them that way, so excluding that. Even former surgeon general Joycelyn Elders supports legalization. The stressors of college lead students to find a coping method. Better marijuana than alcohol, Adderall, or anti depressants. They have all killed people.

The "Secret Lives" of College Students, Not so Secret?

College students come from all walks of life. Many of us live “secret lives” outside of school. The secret lives of college students aren't really secret. They are merely unknown lives because we have yet to get to know each other. We spend so much of our time focusing on school, work, and life’s struggles that we don't take the time to know each other. We miss out on the real joy of true friendships and real life talks. We instant message, text, post to Facebook, and use technology to communicate. However, is that really communicating? Sure, to a point, but can you see a facial expression in a text? So, do you really know your best friend? Do you take the time to sit down and talk, feel the emotions behind their words or read their body language? When we miss out on these parts of communicating it creates these “secret lives” and misunderstandings. We need to have that one on one connection time to eliminate our secret lives. There is so much you can learn about someone from the way they hold themselves and their body language. If we allow ourselves to take the time, we can learn about our fellow classmates “secret lives” and connect on a higher level.  There’s no reason that we should hide any part of who we are, intentional or not.

Here’s some info on body language.
